You Won’t Believe What Giuliani Said When Asked about BuzzFeed Report

In his attempt to defuse the situation caused by BuzzFeed News, President Donald Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani may have actually made things worse.

Giuliani was speaking to a reporter from The New Yorker as he attempted to address BuzzFeed’s report that Trump had instructed his previous lawyer Michael Cohen to lie to Congress. He claimed to know that “from the moment I read the story” it was fake.

When asked what led him to that conclusion, Giuliani may have said too much by stating in his answer denying collusion, “Because I have been through all the tapes, I have been through all the texts, I have been through all the e-mails, and I knew none existed.”

This immediately backfired when the reporter asked him to elaborate on what tapes to which he was referring.

“I shouldn’t have said tapes,” the lawyer replied. “There were no texts, there were no e-mails, and the president never told him to lie.”

When pressed further Giuliani reiterated, “No tapes. Well, I have listened to tapes, but none of them concern this.”

The implication that there may be recorded “tapes” certainly won’t be doing the investigation any favors. It’s likely that it won’t do President Trump any favors either. How long can Trump continue to tolerate Giuliani’s continued poor performance?
