Unfortunately it seems that the longest shutdown in government history taught absolutely nothing to Nancy Pelosi and her league of obstructionist Democrats.
Even though a bipartisan committee was assembled to specifically address one issue and despite President Trump declaring that a solution must be reached, House Speaker Pelosi persists that, “There’s not going to be any wall money.”
Isn’t this the reason President Trump ended the shutdown? So that negotiations over wall funding could take place? How can Pelosi continue to declare that she will give nothing to the wall and call that “negotiating”?
Trump has rightfully assumed that Democrats will be unwilling to make any sort of reasonable deal. “If they’re not going to give money for the wall … it’s not going to work,” he shared.
But Trump also vowed that he would find a way to build the wall and most recently implied that if a resolution can’t be reached by February 15, he will declare a national emergency to get the job done.
It seems like a long shot that Pelosi will come to her senses before then.
