Terrorists carried out attacks on hotels and churches in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday in a devastating series of attacks. Now a group has come forward to claim responsibility for the heinous crimes.
In a statement issued through the Amaq “news agency” the Islamic State declared that, “those who carried out the attack that targeted nationals of the Coalition and Christians in Sri Lanka the day before yesterday are Islamic State fighters.”
This comes after Sri Lankan authorities announced that the extremist group National Towheeth Jama’ath (NTI) was responsible, but that it might have ties to the Islamic State.
This information correlates with discoveries made by the SITE Intelligence Group revealing an Islamic State supporter posting photos of three “commando brothers in Sri Lanka” to pro-ISIS chat rooms. Those individuals are believed to have carried out the suicide attacks.
Another image was released by ISIS showing even more members.
This unfortunately shows that the world is still far off from being free of extreme terrorists like ISIS and NTI.
