The pressure is piling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and it’s coming from her fellow Democrats.
Pelosi has time and again shared that she doesn’t believe trying to impeach President Donald Trump is the right course of action for the United States.
However many Democrats feel otherwise and are attempting to push Pelosi into changing her stance.
Rep. Joaquin Castro, who sits on the House Intelligence Committee stated “It’s time to start,” the impeachment process.
Rep. Steve Cohen is also for impeachment and admitted that he has drafted articles of impeachment which are “ready to go.” But noted that there where problems to address within the party first.
“I think that that’s a difficult internal political dynamic that the speaker, the chairman and the members have to process,” Cohen said. He also believes that “it’s not gonna be easy” to persuade Pelosi to change her stance.
These remarks point to the problem that Pelosi is facing on the whole, she can no longer rally her party to follow her lead. As her influence wanes, Democrats are increasingly at odds over how to move forward.
The speaker had best find a way to pull the party back on track and soon as she admits that an attempt to impeach Trump would ultimately do more harm to the Democrat party than to the innocent president.
