Lawyer Follows Through On Nike Threat

24 hours after his arrest, embattled lawyer Michael Avenatti stood by his word and began tweeting implications that sports apparel giant Nike was making payouts to high school basket ball stars.

It began with this tweet aimed at 2017 No. 1 recruit, Deandre Ayton.

Avenatti then moved on to Oregon freshman center Bol Bol, tweeting that he too had “received large sums of money from Nike.”

He then tied the events to the similar controversy involving Merl Code and Adidas (misspelling the latter).

Avenatti’s opponents have accused him of running a “shake down” on Nike, but if there is truth to these allegations the firm may have forfeited the cheap way out when they cornered the less-than-noble lawyer.
