Any journalist knows that how they conduct themselves publicly can open or shut many doors. Well, most of them anyway.
Natalie Weiner, a sportswriter for SBNation, is getting educated on that principle after she tweeted out a nasty attack on a concert-goer just for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.
“Just yelled at a prick with the audacity to wear a f***ing Make America Great Again hat in the middle of a jazz festival,” Weiner tweeted while at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. She also added that the attendee “doesn’t deserve to be within a 10 mile radius” of singer Irma Thomas, supposedly because she is African-American and any one who wears a red hat must be racist.
But Weiner was in for a surprise if she thought that was going to be the end of it. Her Tweet quickly garnered 3,500 comments compared to its 800 likes, a good indicator that her words were NOT well received and people were speaking out against her.
Some of the numerous comments read:
“There’s definitely a problem here. It isn’t with the guy wearing a hat.”
“I hope you explained to him that jazz concerts are safe spaces, free from the pesky First Amendment.”
“Tolerance at its finest I see.”
“The self-righteousness is nauseating.”
Maybe next time the left leaning Weiner will check herself before attacking a random individual simply based on their headwear.
