The California Department of Corrections has just informed news outlets that Governor Gavin Newsom has allowed for the release of 18,000 prisoners to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
According to the Gateway Pundit, “These actions are taken to provide for the health and safety of the incarcerated population and staff,” Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Secretary Ralph Diaz stated. “We aim to implement these decompression measures in a way that aligns both public health and public safety.”
