Another state has decided that the lives of unborn children are forfeit in a world that has lost it’s senses.
The Vermont House has overwhelmingly voted to pass an abortion bill that allows for the termination of pregnancy at any stage, for any reason.
Shamefully, the bill passed 106-36.
By far the most damming legislation, it far surpasses similar decisions made in New York and Virginia.
“Every individual who becomes pregnant has the fundamental right to choose to carry a pregnancy to term, give birth to a child, or to have an abortion,” the bill states. Furthermore, “A fertilized egg, embryo, or fetus shall not have independent rights under Vermont law.”
In an effort to preserve some vestige of humanity, Republicans tried to make amendments to the bill. These included requiring women to at least receive an ultrasound before killing their child or stipulating that minors would need parental consent to proceed, but they were all voted down by Democrats.
While the bill hasn’t been signed into law yet, it is expected to pass in the Vermont senate where Democrats already have a supermajority. Phil Scott, the governor of Vermont, has also already implied that he would sign the bill.
