Attorney General William Barr dropped a bomb during his testimony before a Senate Appropriations subcommittee. One that has Democrats scrambling to find cover.
While speaking of the Trump campaign in 2016 and the FBI’s original Russia probe, Barr shared that he believes “spying did occur” on the Donald Trump.
Barr further announced that he would be looking into this possibility with an investigation of his own. It’s easy to imagine the ripple of fear that spread through Democrats as Barr made the declaration.
“I think spying did occur. The question is whether it was adequately predicated. … I think it’s my obligation. Congress is usually very concerned with intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies staying in their proper lane,” he shared adding, “spying on a political campaign is a big deal.”
This mirrors what President Trump has claimed all along, something that he restated even as Barr was testifying.
“It was an illegal investigation. … Everything about it was crooked,” Trump said.
It looks like the tables are turning on Democrats and that is a circumstance that is past due.
